MotoGP manufacturers have agreed to limit each rider to one bike during practice sessions from 2027, also shortening the total amount of track time available across a race weekend, Motorsport.com has reported.

The decisions were reached at the most recent Motorcycle Sports Manufacturers Association (MSMA) meeting and are pending formal drafting and official ratification before they become binding.

What Changes and Why It Matters

Currently, riders have access to two bikes during practice. Reducing that to a single machine is one of the two confirmed changes manufacturers have agreed to implement from 2027.

Alongside the one-bike rule, overall track time across the weekend will also be cut.

What Happens Next

The agreements must still be formally drafted and ratified before they carry regulatory force. The 2027 season will also see MotorLand Aragón return to the MotoGP calendar, adding further shape to what is shaping up as a substantially restructured era for the championship.

No timeline for the completion of the ratification process has been confirmed in the available source material.
