Alex Palou claimed victory at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix on Sunday, converting a pole position into his fourth win of the 2026 IndyCar season and the 23rd of his career.

The Chip Ganassi Racing driver held his composure through numerous late restarts at the 1.645-mile, nine-turn street circuit to cross the line 3.0584 seconds ahead of Kyle Kirkwood.

Championship implications

The result extends Palou's advantage at the top of the IndyCar standings to 62 points. Kirkwood's runner-up finish lifts him to second in the championship, while David Malukas drops to third — now 79 points adrift of the leader.

Christian Lundgaard is the highest-placed McLaren driver in fourth, 101 points behind Palou, with teammate Pato O'Ward a further six points back.
